In the Summer of 2006, four friends met up in a small underground pub and decided to start a press devoted to new storytellers, poets and artists. They were motivated by what they saw as the grim state of poetry and theatre in the UK. Irrelevant, tired, stale, tricksy, clumsy, humourless, smug and elitist. Those were the nicer words that came up.
It seemed to them that everything that had once made poetry and theatre exciting and relevant was long gone. It had a small audience because it DESERVED a small audience.

The VP Press aims to make poetry and theatre popular again without compromising on quality. Our live nights and our first release, Vintage Poison, will give you a good idea of our who we are, but we're also on the look - out for fellow heroes.
If you think you're good enough, then check out one of our nights or the submission page.
